AFM® 13"X 54" Medium Grade 80 Litre FRP with Auto Backwash (Manual Backwash Head option)

Overview

Engineered for superior contaminant removal in moderate to hard water applications, this 13"x54" (80 Litre) FRP vessel system delivers automated, high-performance pre-treatment. Featuring a Runxin auto-backwash control valve and premium.

Graded Media Bed:

  • 2 x 25Kg bags of Premium AFM® Grade 1 media which removes 95% of all particles down to 1μm. Coagulation and flocculation may be used to further enhance filtration performance down to submicron.
  • 1 x 25Kg bag of AFM® Grade 2 which is used as a support and filtration layer. (AFM® Grade 2 acts as a support and filtration layer removing particles down to 5 μm.

Advanced AFM® Grade 1 Media

Unlike standard silica or anthracite, AFM®-s Grade 1 (0.4 – 0.8 mm) is an activated filtration media engineered for electro-adsorptive performance in medium-grade applications:

  • Heavy Metal Removal: Exceptionally efficient at removing Iron (Fe) , Manganese (Mn) , and Arsenic (As) through surface charge attraction and physical entrapment.
  • Optimized for Harder Water: Achieves peak filtration efficiency when water hardness exceeds 50 ppm as CaCO₃ . The presence of hardness ions enhances the media's electro-adsorptive capacity, ensuring superior capture of positively charged contaminants, flocs, and metal hydroxides.
  • Critical Hardness Consideration: Note: Very soft water (< 50 ppm CaCO₃) can lead to reduced filtration performance—a limitation common to all filter media, including conventional sand. In such cases, pre-conditioning or alternative media selection is recommended.
  • Biological Stability: Resists biofouling and media compaction, maintaining consistent backwash efficiency over extended service life.

System Components & Specifications

  • Vessel: 13" x 54" High-Grade FRP – 80 Litre capacity, designed for medium-flow applications.
  • Control Valve: Runxin Auto Backwash Filter Valve, programmable for automatic back-washing and rinsing cycles to fluidize the media bed and purge accumulated contaminants.
  • Complete Internal Kit: Includes custom Top & Bottom strainers and a central riser pipe for even flow distribution and minimal pressure drop.
  • Installation Ready: All necessary seals, O-rings, and a compatible transformer for the control valve are included.

Key Benefits

  • Targeted Heavy Metal Reduction: Ideal for well-water treatment and industrial process water with dissolved Fe, Mn, and As.
  • Hardness-Dependent Performance: Delivers optimal results in water with >50 ppm CaCO₃ hardness, where electro-adsorption is most effective.
  • Reduced OPEX: AFM media outlasts sand, resists channeling, and requires less frequent replacement.
  • Protects Downstream Equipment: Reduces fouling potential in RO membranes, heat exchangers, and distribution systems.
