NanoDose™ Flocculant Dosing Kit

Alum (aluminium sulphate) and flocculant dosing, with optional tank mixing: clumps fine suspended particles, colour and oxidised iron into flocs heavy enough to settle and filter out. Chemicals not included.

What it is for

Cloudy water and very fine particles – silt, clay, colour, and oxidised iron – are often too small to settle or filter well on their own. Alum gathers them into larger flocs that drop out in a settling tank and are easily caught by a filter.

How it works

• Coagulation: fine particles carry a negative charge that keeps them apart. The positively charged aluminium in alum neutralises that charge so they can stick together.
• Flocculation: the aluminium forms a soft, gelatinous floc that sweeps the particles up with it as it grows and settles.

The flocculant is made up in the 100 L tank and the dosing pump injects a set dose into the raw water line ahead of your storage or settling tank, giving it time to react before the next stage. Where the flocculant can settle or cake in the tank, the recirculation pump and NanoJet EcoShear™ nozzle keep it fully mixed so every dose is the same strength.

What’s included

• Etatron PKX analogue dosing pump – solenoid diaphragm pump, output set by hand on the dial (1 L/h at 5 bar, up to 5 L/h at 7 bar), IP65, NSF certified. Supplied with its installation kit: 2 m discharge tube, 2 m suction and bleed tubes, foot filter and injection valve.
• 100 L chemical dosing tank – choose Blue for outdoor installation or Clear for indoor installation (lets you see the level at a glance).

Tank mixing (included by default, optional):

• Peripheral recirculation pump (220 V, 0.37 kW, QB60) – draws from the base of the tank and returns the flow through the mixing nozzle.
• NanoJet EcoShear™ mixing nozzle – mounted inside the tank, keeps the whole volume turning over so solids never settle or cake.

Keep the mixing set for powdered flocculants and slurries that settle out in the tank. Some flocculants stay fully in solution and don’t need agitation – for those you can untick the recirculation pump and nozzle and save on the kit. Not sure? Not included

• Aluminium sulphate (alum) and other chemicals.
• Why chemicals are separate: treatment chemicals are heavy and expensive to ship, so it is usually far cheaper to buy the recommended chemical from a supplier near you. We’ll tell you exactly which chemical and strength to buy, and it is also available from us as a separate product.
• Installation (available on request).

Getting it right

• Alum works within a pH window, typically about 5.8–7.2, and lowers the pH as it reacts. Check pH after dosing.
• A simple jar test confirms the right dose for your water.
• Plan for the settled sludge: a settling tank with a sludge valve, or the NanoJet™ STANDARD Iron & Sludge Removal Kit, followed by filtration.

Safety

Alum is an irritant and is acidic in solution. Wear gloves and eye protection when making up the solution.
